Owen Batchelor started a small drafting firm in 1991 working for builders. In 1997 we moved to Clayfield and founded east Coast Building Design. In 2007 we moved to Nundah to expand and grow. A combination of GFC and covid has helped us re-evaluate our business position and now Owen has gone back to working one-on-one with clients based from his home studio in Clear Mountain, while retaining the Nundah office for client meetings and as a base.

In late 2020 Owen Batchelor began studying Passive House Design (PassivHaus) and working out how it can be adapted to sub-tropical Qld. This has spurned a new business passive House Brisbane alongside his well established East Coast Building Design.
